Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski and splitboard touring courses in Europe?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
So, I'm a keen skier who has never snowboarded, and my other half is a keen snowboarder who is a bit of a noob on skis. I'm enthusiastic about ski touring, and until recently she's been very much against walking up a mountain instead of getting lifts everywhere. She's had a (possibly brief!) change of heart, and what I'd really like to do is to take her on a touring course somewhere in Europe.

This means finding a company with guides who have actually seen a splitboard before and can offer useful advice, but not a specialist boarders-only course cos then I won't be able to come along too. Does anyone know if such a course or company exists?

Failing that, I guess it would be time to save up for a day with a frieindly instructor or guide during a normal pistey holiday. This presumably requires a slightly more careful choice of destination, as I'm guessing not everywhere (if indeed anywhere) has suitable kit for hire and suitable places to go.

I've clearly been asking the wrong questions of google cos I seem to be turning up very little helpful information. I guess I probably need to go sign up with one of the more specialist forums on the subject, but if any of you guys had any useful advice, that would be very handy!

Talk to Neil McNab and Chris Fecher in Chamonix - one or other operation would probably be able to handle the mix.

Cubanpete, Neil McNair runs splitboard weeks either based out of Tignes or (with us) out of Sainte Foy (just down the road): www.whiteroomchalet.com/win_backcountry_splitboard_weeks.htm
