Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can anyone please help - I'm hoping to launch a new product to skiers in the US and Canada and I have to know who the big retailers and chains of ski rental shops are.

Welcome to snowHead

To successfully launch a new product I'd expect you to be able to identify the target market for yourself!!!!!

lox001, depends what sort of product. Depends if it can easily be sold online or needs face-to-face selling and some technical input. Depends if it is an impulse POS item. Loads of factors to think about. Whatever it is you will almost certainly need to use a network of agents - they have the relationships with the buyers. Probably need to visit the SIA Show in Denver next Jan and ISPO Munich in Feb. But... if you're asking on here, already doomed I'd say.

Seriously ... er ... Dude? you have developed a new product for a specific Market and you don't know who the major retailers and hire companies are? Are you living in a fantasy world?

There is a little known trick that can gives you access to all this information, maybe I should sell it to all the ski retailers and hire shops? It's called a "google search".... Good luck with your new product, but you really need to get your head sorted out and focused on selling it rather than just coming up with the idea.

Ouch!!! Hostile audience... Okay, so the silly mistake I made was not checking the registered address of this dotcom forum - mistakenly assumed it was US based. That was a silly mistake, mya culpa!
What I also didn't make clear is that this is really early days i.t.o. product development (conceptual stage) and my research is merely starting with the major retailers/skihire chains. I ask the forum members, since often the response is more to be trusted than the website of the small town one man show that happened to get a 1st page Google result.
Big thanks to Bode Swiller for the sincere and helpful reply - much appreciated.
