OK I know such a question should never be asked but. we are three, my wife and me...oh and a 12 year old.
I know high, wife wants blues, (she lost her nerve a few years ago when taken off the hill with a broken acl) daughter wants to have a fun time when not on the planks, I just want them to come skiing so any snow is good snow...
So Zell am see?

Saas Fee I always recommend for groups containing people who dont ski much, as it is a lovely village with lots of shops and bars etc.
Not sure what there is for a 12 year old although I think there is a separate lift dedicated to tobogganing. Its certainly high for you but is a bit disjointed because of the glacier so may not suit your wife.
Austrian resorts are lovely, somewhere like Bad Hofgastein perhaps ... some nice if pricey hotels there including some with pools etc. The downside of the pretty village there is that it is down in the valley, so it can take a while to get to the slopes.
Oh and apparently it's called "criggy" now, not Christmas (see other posts). Do try to keep up.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

harrim51, If you're interested in Austria, I'd also add Lech to your list. I love Solden but you might find the cruisy blues of Lech/Oberlech more suitable for your wife? Haven't skied the other areas so can't comment. Lech is picture postcard pretty (perfect for Xmas) with a good snow record and I'm sure there would be plenty for your daughter to do off the slopes.

IME the most important ingredient for a 12 year old to have fun off the slopes is to have other kids around and be able to spend some independent time away from the parents! A hotel which specialised in families and had some activities organised for that age-group, so she could go off and do her own thing might be a good idea? If I couldn't find anything that suits, overall, I'd be tempted to try to find a good friend to take, so the two of them could be pretty self-sufficient.

I can recommend Hinterglemm. Perfect for children, there is a lift going until 11 pm and with nightlife closeby. There is also plenty of ski in ski out accomodation. And the glemm valley ciruit totally consists of blue runs without the need to take a red one.
You can try Serfaus, the number one ski resort in Austria for children. Here you have a flat valley run back to the ski resort. And there are plenty of english speaking children. Ladis is also nice for children. The connecting run between fiss and ladis is one of flattest I have ever seen.
You will also find plenty of children and a large share of blue runs in dorfgastein/Hochkoenig, lots of children but more red slopes in the Hochkoenig resort.
Other suggestions
Hochkrimml / Gerlosplatte part of the Zillertal Arena.
I agree to the previous snowhead Lech is very nice but the number of children is significantly lower.
Zell am see: there are some step runs back to the village. But on can take the gondola back to the village.

Pam w, we did think about taking one of her friends, but chickened out, I would not want to give back someones daughter that we broke!
I will have a good look at these recommendations.
