Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There's real white-out on the upper slopes of Zermatt - webcams are hardly worth linking to at the mo. But I'd be amazed if any snow in early October below 2500m lasts into the winter.

Big storms at the end of October above that altitude can be really useful!

David Goldsmith, I'd agree late October is when you want the snow, at the moment the normal ambient temp at arround 2000M is still arround +7 by the end of the month it will hopefully be closer to 0 at which point any snow that falls will tend to stay for much longer and start to build up, by late November the temps at the level of Murren should be sufficiently cold for snow to start to build there and hopefully I'll be lucky and by mid December temps in Wengen will mean I get a good start to the season

snowbunny, it looks nice but it's only a couple of cm's deep so not great ski conditions yet, give it time wink
