Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ill post my link again for anyone thinking of joining as i haven't for a while http://www.sportpursuit.com/join/Carl_Edmondson_95444 and a big thanks to those who've used it, as if i go for the Sprint it won't cost me much at all Very Happy

I'm fan of the site, got some great trainers substantially cheaper than I could else where. Out of interest does anyone know how their business model works? Knowing exactly how many of a product you're going to sell, possibly even before the product has been produced, removes the risk and thus some of the normal costs, but 50% seems like a lot for removal of the risk to save.

Fifespud, Not as good as the earlier 95mm waist version apparently, its the earlier one that was fallline ski of the year

review from real skiers of the current one

"OK. nothing special," according to some, although others found it "playful."

Not rated as highly as its predecessor. The current Pontoon and ObSETHed may be better choices, along with the 2010 version of this ski.

the one they did like was the recoil

"Excellent crossover and all mountain twin."

"Loved it! Fun everywhere I took it. Great pop off the kickers. Super springy in frontside steeps. Confident that not matter where I went, the ski would be there!"

"Anyone would love this ski. Could take it anywhere. Trees, bumps, park, pow. Ireally enjpoyed it."

"Stable for skier in park; awesome skiing switch!"

I assumed it was all discontinued stock. They don't seem to be getting to the level of buying power of TKMaxx and Go-Outdoors who now get stuff made for them at a lower spec to meet the price points their customers demand. I thought Sports pursuit is basically an out of season sale.

That and possibly production overruns / cancelled orders.

I think that some of the smaller brands just discount as an alternative to the cost of advertising.

With a smaller, specialist manufacturer it's also often the case that once they've covered their costs on a run of a product with sales at RRP, then everything that's sold after that, even at below the original per-item cost-price is pure profit. Add that to the cost of storing 'old' stock when they need space for new stock, and dumping large volumes at low prices is quite an attractive proposition, especially if the likes of SportPursuit are going to do it en-masse for you so you don't need to faff about with drips and drabs of individual orders from your 'factory shop'

Their business model is to take outdated or otherwise unwanted stock from the manufactuers or wholesale dealers at discounted wholesale prices, hold stock in a warehouse not a shop and have no standing inventory other than what's on sale (when it's gone, it's gone!). It works for the manufactuers/wholesale dealers to provide cash flow when they need it and then can write-off the loss against tax - i.e. they end up 'flat(ish) (and can make a small profit sometimes through accounting magic) in terms of cost/profit. SportPursuit keep the costs to an absolute minimum and run the risk that they cannot off load the stock they acquire (although a twist on this is a 'put' back to the original manufactuers/wholesale dealers suppliers on unsold stock so you can even get rid of that risk)

Toofy Grin Toofy Grin Found just the opposite, one of the few jackets that actually have long enough arms for me without excessive large fitting around the body. Arc'teyx arms dont tend to be quite long enough Madeye-Smiley

Usually loads of Mountain Hardware gear in Cotswold if you have one nearby to get a feel for sizing.

Icebreaker top arrived quickly and sizing is as the chart. For anyone worrying about using SportPursuit then i can say my experience of delivery and quality of goods is fine, no experience of returns yet but I'm sure someone will have. It is a pain waiting sometimes a very long time for delivery, but you are told in advance and there has to be some payback for the prices.

Just bought a Mountain Hardwear top and it is due mid December.

Not sure if i should thank or curse those who use my link as it keeps enticing me to spend more. On balance I think thank as so far for less than £50 I've had a softshell, merino & now a straetch base/mid layer!

So once again, if anyone is dithering, here is my link: http://www.sportpursuit.com/join/Carl_Edmondson_95444

They are about the only jackets I've seen recently that would fit me. I was very tempted by the Drystein. I bought my current jacket in Canada. I think they stock big ones over there for their larger cousins.

It wasn't a return, but I had something not arrive (long after it should have done), owing to my company name being omitted from the address (actually caused by Paypal). I contacted SportPursuit and (after asking me to check with the local post office) they were very good at giving me a refund. I'd actually have rather had the top I'd ordered, but by then it was about 3 months since they'd sold them so fair enough.

Was initially a bit worried about how they might react (I had no proof the thing didn't arrive), but overall I was very happy with their service.

Oh, and since it seems acceptable to pimp your link, feel free to sign up using this link (midgetbiker seems to have had enough credit already Twisted Evil )

Anyone have any experience with the Pyua gear they have on at the moment? Waterproof/breathable numbers look good but as the Goretex debate always proves they don't always live up to expectations.

I had to return some salopettes as, despite measuring and using the sizing guide, they were just far too tight on my thighs.

It was handled very well, and a refund given without question. They even checked in case anyone had returned a larger size as I'd have been happy with an exchange. A decent common sense and very communicative approach.
