Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Facebook App for Logging Ski Days

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I like to log how many times i've been skiing in a season, for this i've used excel or other Facebook apps. The problem with some past Facebook apps is they are no longer around or are overly complicated.

So I created a simple Facebook app for logging your ski days. Its based off the similar app I made for logging mountain biking rides. The app is clutter free, simple and fast to enter ski days. With fields like location, trails you skied and friends you skied with. The app is integrated with facebooks friends system and has an option to post a message to your wall when you add a day.

You can try it out here: http://apps.facebook.com/skiinglog
More info (fan page): http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=133836113330895

You can also rely on this app staying around and not disappearing in a year. There is also an option to export your log to an excel CSV file if you want to move your data.

Current Features:
- stats page showing most popular locations, trails, top skiers and so on
- location, trail names & comments searchable
- Skier directory listing other skiers
- export your rides to a CSV file
- privacy settings to exclude yourself from directory or stats
- integration with facebook friends
- option to publish new log entries to your wall
- field to enter a URL to your GPS track on a 3rd party site like everytrail.com logs with GPS data have a red pushpin
- keep track of which skis you used each day
- log comments and liking

The newest Facebook redesign removed profile boxes and tabs, so those no longer work Sad

If you have any suggestions please let me know!

Forget the Facebook app. Just log it in Excel or a table in Word. You have your record - the rest of us dn't tneed to know. Simples. Welcome to snowheads.

canadaka, I think the mistake you are making here is assuming that snowHeads have friends (that are interested in skiing)

I like this idea, it's a shame I can't seem to add previous trips, to create a comprehensive log of everywhere I've been.

I think that you can add previous trips on a similar facebook app.

Good point, all i need to add is a year selector to the date and you can add previous trips from past years. I will do that now.

I'm also developing a similar application, and since the ski season now is over I've gotten time to add some new features like a "mapped" tab to show a map with the days with a GPS track, search, the possibility to include info on the weather etc. All feedback and suggestions on improvements are very welcomed.

The application can be found here: http://apps.facebook.com/snowlog/

Whilst I log and share, it won't be on fb. If I share, it's for me to make it available to others that may be interested, not me telling everyone including zuckerberg "hey! Andy's been skiing!!"
Both skiing and mtbing get logged elsewhere.
Although I could simply reshare on fb, refuse to enable fb apps.

re: andy
In the application you can choose if you want to tell your Facebook friends (and Zuckerberg)Smile that you have been skiing when registering a ski day.

The application lives outside Facebook, and I'm considering an alternative entry. But for now you have to access it from Facebook. Using the Facebook platform has made it possible for me to focus on developing application functionality, rather than using time on things like user administration, friend management, photo/video upload etc.

anarchicsaltire: No, I don't work with insurance. But for skiing I can recommend this: http://www.carreneige.com/en/index.php
