Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

getting into touring

Hi All,

First post, hope it's not a stupid question.
I want to start hut to hut ski touring next season. I own a set of movement Jams with scott bindings. Would it be possible to just change the bindings for dynafits/freeride pro's or are
the Jams not suitable ?

Start with what you can/have and build a frame of reference from there. Dynafit will mean you'll need a ompatable boot, a good place to start see a bootfitter with touring experience and chat more with them.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have just bought a pair of scarpa Maestrale's (scarps always seem to fiit my feet really well). I went with a dynafit compatible boot so i would have a choice when it came to bindings.

deandarvill, to answer your question... Jams would be fine to tour on - enjoy!

(Only thing to watch is that the new mount points for the touring bindings aren't too close to the old holes - a good shop will keep you right on this.)

deandarvill,

Movement Jams would be perfectly fine for hut to hut tours.

As above you just need to address some hardwear issues such as boots and climbing skins. Eventhough alpine boots will fit into Fritschi bindings, you would be better suited with some touring/freeride boots as they have more adjustment to them and are lighter also.

As offpisteskiing said, just be careful with the binding as you need atleast 6-8mm clearance from the old binding holes to wear the new ones will be drilled. On some occations, you may need to jump forward or backwards of the ski centre.............but usually you are ok but just DOUBLE CHECK WITH THE SHOP FIRST BEFORE THEY DRILL THEM!!!!

If you need any more help get in touch

Thanks

deandarvill, Jams will be sweet, go dyna or plum guides for the bindings - definitely worth it, especially as you're already sorted with a compatible boot. have fun
