Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Austria from Ireland

I live in Ireland and am trying to plan a ski trip to Austria for next season. So flying from either Dublin or Belfast. I would like to put together my own trip rather than booking a package to see if I can get better value. Problem is I can't seem to find any scheduled flights from Dublin/Belfast to Salzburg/Innsbruck! Am I missing something or are there just no scheduled flights? Help appreciated.

If you get the 7.00 am DUB-MUN flight, you will have time to transfer from the airport to many resorts by train for approx €19 each way (booking well enough in advance at www.dbahn.de or www.oebb.at), although if you do use the train you need to travel home on a day that Aer Lingus has a late flight (20.45), unless you are staying close enough to Munich to make an 11.00 am flight home. Check the timetables at www.aerlingus.ie for the dates you are thinking of.

billybob, Lufthansa also fly to Munich (via Frankfurt) from Dublin. Also if you have your own skis note that they carry skis for free. Madeye-Smiley

The train is a hell of a lot cheaper than most other transfers or hiring a car. You can easily get to Innsbruck, Garmisch, Seefeld from Munich. Mayrhofen, Kitzbuhl, Zell am Zee and many others are served by the railway as well, but I don't have any experience of train travel to them.

Zurich down to Meiringen was interesting and fun (though done in the summer).

billybob, Dublin - Munich or Dublin - Memmingen. I think Micky O' is running this route. Very simple arranging DIY trips out of Dublin! We can even do it out of Cork!! wink

Good luck and let us know how you get on with your plans!

Not sure if it's an option for you, but foot passenger to Liverpool on the high speed catamaran, then fly from Liverpool? Opens up your airport option by quite a margin.
