Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Short Review of a cheap Resort- St Sorlin D'arves

I'm new here and this forum has already been a massive help to me so I thought I'd give what little I can back.

At Easter (31/03-7/04) I took my second trip to St Sorlin in Les Sybelles. There was a group on 12 of us and we paid £180 each for a 3 valleys lift pass, bronze ski hire and 2 spacious 3 bed-room apartments (for 7 days) through wastelandski.com (not sure how well known they are so please forgive me if this is insulting but they're a company that specialises in cheap student skiing, but are not exclusively for students). This is the main attraction of the resort, rock bottom prices.

The Good
-Our apartments were very spacious, 4-5 times bigger than our 5 person apartment in Val Thorens, good value accommodation.
-Nice village feel, no 'lager louts'/stag parties , mainly French people from the surrounding area.
-Very large ski area for the price (300km+)
-Mainly Blues, great for people with 1-3 weeks experience
-Free bus up and down the resort
-Most accommodation situated along the main piste down to the lifts, #50m to the piste from anywhere in the resort
-Plenty of snow cannons keep snow down to resort level until end of season
-Snowpark and boardercross about 20 minutes away over in the next valley
-good off piste, didn't take full advantage due to patchy snow and avalanche risk

The Mediocre
-No clubs but a few decent bars with themed club nights (beach party in the Alps!)
-March heatwave meant it was 15C some days making the snow a bit slushy and difficult. This is due to the time of year though.
-~30% was shut, might not be best choice for late season
-main route back to resort as closed for 2 days due to avalanche

The Bad
-Easy to get stranded due to layout of pistes and a few pistes shut
-not as lively as bigger resorts
-not many blacks, advanced skiers will have to seek their thrills off piste

it's 4am so there's loads I've missed out but I'll update when I think of things

Summary:
overall the resort offered great value for a large ski area, not been ruined by tourism. Definitely a good resort to look at for a more relaxed family skiing experience. If you have any questions please ask!

Les Sybelles is a top ski area, keep it to yourself to keep the hoorays where they belong in Meribel and St Anton
