Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi
We have just launched our new site at www.BargainBoards.co.uk and would appreciate some feedback please.
Any constructive comments, positive or negative, are welcome because we are just finishing off the site's development so, if you speak up now, we should be able to incorporate any necessary changes.
Thanks for your help
Paul

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Unless your server's having an 'off' day, Safari on the Mac doesn't like it very much, very slow to load and navigate.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Quick on Firefox running on Windows XP SP2 over broadband.
First impressions are that the distance from front page to product is lovely and short - nice

Thanks, glad you like it.
There is a snowheads discount. You just have to let me know when you place your order. I could not mention it on the site because everyone would say they are a snowhead and that would kind of defeat the purpose - I'd just have to raise my prices to give everyone the same discount!
Any more comments anyone?

Pretty good site. Loads a bit slow for me compared to most sites - this could either be a slow server, or that you have quite a few images on there. Navigation is nice and easy though, and text is easy to read. Aesthetic appeal is fairly good.

We are on a shared server at the moment but will be moving over to a dedicated sever all of our own any day now so that should speed thinks up loads. Weighing up speed versus design/graphics is always a difficult playoff. Hopefully it will be much faster next week!

paulmc, cool. I've designed a couple pages myself, and it is indeed a difficult tradeoff.

Mas - I can sort you out a bag but please can we do this off the forum - paul@bargainboards.co.uk because I want to keep this thread on subject - the feedback is very valuable and I'd like to avoid any commercialism. Thanks

Candid and refreshingly respectful of this site format. Solely from the point of view as a reader and member, thank you and I wish your business well.
Your site is still not happy in Safari (Mac). Just a thought are your images and links set to load in the background or are your pages waiting for everything to download before displaying?

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

No idea about the loading procedure but thanks for pointing this out and I'll look into it. Same goes for the MAC issue.
