Looking for a set of piste orientated skis,for those on piste only days , practicing in the moguls, and summer fridge skiing, also start/end of season (unlike this year) when the rocks and things start poking through . Looking through the end of season sales and have seen a pair of movement yaka's that may fit the bill , anyone got any views on these or similar alternatives , would love to hear your thoughts

I was skiing on the Zip in March. The construction is near identical, but the Yaka has more of a sidecut with a 13m radius rather than the Zip's 14 (for the same length)
The Zip carved very nicely, and I can imagine the Yaka would do too. It was also good in the bumps.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

feef, Cheers , went for the yaka, great deal from edge and wax
uktrailmonster, liked the look of those , but could only get the yaka in the right length

bought a pair of Sparks at the weekend - unfortunately gonna have to wait until December 23 to try them out for real. Even more unfortunately my 19yr old tagged along and coerced me into buying a pair of Scott Lunas for her. Any thoughts of a May bank holiday weekend skiing now gone

carbon_copy, yeah, I got my Le Fers from Edge & Wax too. I probably would have gone for 177 but they only had 170 left at the time, so I took a chance on the shorter length. Hope you like the Yakas, I'd be surprised if you didn't to be honest.

uktrailmonster, Just had first slide on the yaka's , only at the chill factore, but wow !! They are great, turn on a sixpence , never skied on such a agile ski before , perfect addition to my ever growing quiver
feefcan't really offer a full review , but can't praise the yaka's enough, very very precise in short turns , stable in longer turns , and found it effortless to mix things up , am actually looking forward to a bit of ice and hard pack in December so I can spend some time on these beauties ,

carbon_copy, I've been playing on my new Movement Jam in the fridge, and they are very nice too. Surprisingly quick and easy edge to edge but also not too bad at carving. I'm looking forward to getting them into softer stuff
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

feef,enjoy, let's compare notes when we get them on the real thing
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I have head lots of really good things about the Lefer and the Movement Piste skis, it not our type of stuff, but the Movement Jam is changing a little for next season, so we will prob include.
We did a bit of filming for the first time this season, as a bit of a new style ski test presentation, experiment, the 2013 Jams are the first ski up
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

livetoski, great video. Sick design on the Trusts, good piste ski able to handle variable conditions or more like the other way round?
Edit: looked it up, definitely not a piste ski! lol
You know it makes sense.

DannyB01, thanks for the like on the video, yep the Trusts for next season do look great I really fancy a pair myself. The Trust is an off piste ski but its really good on piste as well.
The Jams are really a piste ski, that can handle off piste and variable pretty well, there is a couple of bits in the video where you can see me loose control a little of one ski when on the Jams but they seam, like magic, to recover themselves, I was very impressed with them.
Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

livetoski, Nice edit and some good skiing
Seems the contour is over exposing a bit in bright sun, did you have any kind of filter on it at all, and do you recall what settings were on the camera?
Not sure if it was as bright when this lot was taken [on a goggle mount, hence a bit shakey] (Brightest about 1:44 onwards) with an ND2 filter on and camera settings of:
Video quality = High
Contrast = 55
Sharpness = 2
Exposire = +2
Average exposure monitoring
Audio = 30
Maybe I should start a new thread on Contour video settings????

kitenski, no filter, and went with auto on just about everything!! it was really bright when we were testing, it was a first attempt, needed less helmet cam work and more close up stuff, one thing I found with the Contour is that you have to be really close to your subject when skiing and that can be a bit scary.
might be right on a separate thread, rather than hijack carbon_copy, Movement stuff.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

livetoski, Nice vid, really like Movement skis. I'll report back on the Le Fers next season in Canada. Think the Jams are hard to beat for a 1 ski quiver setup and would have gone for those if I didn't have a second pair of powder skis.
carbon_copy, no I don't its just the Contour Roam, but did set it up for the correct angle for the helmet mount, my lad and I just swapped helmets on occasions to get the different shots, but at the end of the first week we realised that he got no filming of me on the skis we were testing so ended up with too much helmet cam footage.
Would recommend the helmet rotating mount, looks to be pretty stable, I am going to do a out takes vid as well, lots of falls and messing around

livetoski, Looking forward to the Harry hills
kitenski, those angles worked , as your videos from Japan made the skiing look quite steep
