Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pointless upselling? Or good idea? Ski-fit liners

When booking skis and boots from Skiset in Val Thorens, the website is asking me if I want to 'Reserve your SKI-FIT liner'. These appear to be inners that you buy that you can insert into hire boot shells each time you go.

Is this a new thing? I haven't seen it before. Their website, if my dodgy French is correct, suggests that they're "for clients who are delicate and sensible about hygiene" (http://www.ski-fit.com/).

It all strikes me as a bit like that Mitchell and Webb sketch about flogging toothbrushes by making people paranoid about having a 'dirty tongue'(http://youtube.com/v/qwhlqRJ8LVA), which is nonsense but might make people buy more stuff.

Is this something that anyone really needs? Wouldn't you just put up with hire boots or bite the bullet and buy proper boots instead?

I can see the point, but you either buy some boots or you don't. I can't see anyone buying half a boot to be honest.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maireadoconnor, ski boot fitters have zip fit liners that you can buy to put in new or older boots, if these are the same thing then they are very good but not cheap, I am sure CEM will be along and tell us all about this soon.

Precisely - the only type of liner I can envisage being at an appropriate price point for those too cheap for their own boot would be fairly crap.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

livetoski, Somehow I can't imagine these liners being anything remotely like Zipfits! Selling a £200+ top end custom liner to an audience who rents ski boots is not going to work on a commercial level. These are going to be cheapo liners as an alternative to sweaty seconds in a rental shell. Not actually a bad idea, just a bit half-assed.
