As above at Memmingen (ahem....Munich West) with Sixt via Travel Supermarket in late April. Unbelievable - but true.
Meanwhile, the good old Holiday Autos One Account link is coming up at £500+  for 5 days - so not sure what's going on there.
So the question is, do I book 4 days and take the car back a day late? Anybody returned a car a day late? If so, are you just charged for an extra day - or will there be a late return fee - or similar - in the small print? Even if there is, the question is, will it be cheaper than a £123 supplement for a late return?

Ive needed to book car hire before for just a couple of days. Ive found its been cheaper to book for longer then return the car early. Try that and see if it works.

mountainaddict, normally if you return a hire car late you only get charged a pro-rata rate for the extra day, which I've done several times in various countries. There shouldn't be any additional fees. To cover yourself, clarify the policy/costs when you pick it up and telephone them informing them how much longer you require it before the end of the original contract. They will normally recalculate the total cost for you whilst you're on the phone so you can be sure it's at least the pro-rata rate (or better - sometimes it goes down because you've reached a 7/14/30 day threshold etc.)

mountainaddict, Try Buchbinder for car hire, I gave up on nationals 2-3 years ago after the winter tyres scam, and now pretty much use DBB trains if flying into Munich (makes me laugh Munich west ie Memmingen stretching it somewhat!), trains are super clean, very civilised and efficient/ on time. Dont know where you are going on to but worth looking into vs car hire, plus you dont feel youre going to get a lashing at their first opportunity!

If you take the car back a day late they will probably charge you for 5 days...
Why not just phone and ask them... then you'll know...

mountainaddict, Have done this a couple of times in Spain and was charged a pro-rata rate + 35e penalty as they say it was booked for someone else but it should be in the t+c

Try another provider? I shopped around online and booked 5 days car hire from Barcelona for £69.
