Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I do not think I have ever seen a green run in the whole of Paradiski (Les Arcs- La Plagne). In fact there aren't any, I have consulted my piste map. If I were you I'd go for a much smaller resort, Austria or Italy maybe, this would also be a lot cheaper for lift passes. It doesn't sound as though your party are looking for extreme mileage or off piste so why pay for it?
Some resorts do discounts for Seniors. In Les Arcs it's age 70 +. In some resorts it can be as low as 60. This could save £200 each!

I would challenge the assumption that you will get better/more confident on your own. I would suggest that this is a good way to compound all your bad habits and rather than getting more confident you might scare yourself s***less, especially if it's a new resort and you get lost. If I were you I'd take group lessons (loads more fun than private ones!) in the mornings and ski alone or with mates in the afternoons.
In the meantime sign up at your dry ski slope (or snowdome - one near you?) for a regular lesson or practice. You'll soon be flying. Enjoy!Butterfly,

The blues in Les Arcs could all be green. Most of the reds could be blue (some noteable exceptions though). But be warned, the blacks are ALL genuine full on blacks. I don't think any could be called easy!

snowyowl, I know what you're saying about the compounding bad habits/getting lost, but I don't think that's a danger with us to be honest. The 2 of us who need the confidence have the other 3 to guide us on where to go/not go and we have the experience of lessons we have taken to draw on. We feel want a relaxing trip to gently enjoy some consolidation.

Yes indeed there is a snowdome about 60 or so miles away, but it's pricey especially when you factor in the travel costs too and time is hard to find at present too (gotta work to get the pennies for ski hols!).

bertie bassett, tell me more about Alta Badia? I've once stayed at the Moutain Sun place in Tignes (Melezes) ... what is the Alberto Frohsin like? Also what kind of slope is it on? My friend in her 60s has limited experience - did her first real blue this year (Signal in Les Deux Alpes plus one or two in Meribel).

spyderjon, are you on commission? Toofy Grin It's not actually up to me.... the younger couple make the decision. I'm just putting my ideas in their melting pot before they do.

I absolutely adored my recent trip to the dolomites with the Inside out crew.

Must have been the company Toofy Grin

Butterfly, the Albergo Frohsinn is very similar in standard to Melezes in Tignes. Pretty basic but perfectly adequate. The bathrooms have been refurbished to a high standard, which helps. Its right on the junction of a red and blue piste and a very short slide down to the bubble, which you could always download on if you didn't fancy the blue back. I think the most difficult part of the blue is the first bit which you might find a bit steepish but the rest of it is a lovely cruising blue with no nasty surprises. There's lots of gentle blues at the top of that bubble and of course beautiful scenery. About a 5/10 min walk down to the town of San Cassiano. I think you'd be fine with the skiing there but you would have to compromise on the quality of hotel and walk to the town. My recent photos on fb show the scenery although none of the hotel.
