Poster: A snowHead

We are off to Selva next weekend and I was wondering is there a best day to do the Sella Ronda in that it won't be too busy. Do most people get it out of the way at the start of the week or do they save it until the end of the week?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Try the start of the week, it gets busier towards the end. Thursday is the day the ski schools do it. we found that by getting an early start, we seemed to get ahead of the queues

SCollier1, Have found that the queues anti-clockwise are a fair bit less. We did this on a Friday and the only queue to speak of, and that was less than 10 mins, was the chair after the lupo bianco bubble in Canazei

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Never really seen any queues more than a few minutes long. Canazei up to passo pordoi, and the chair between Corvara and Colfosco that goes both ways.
Don't think it really matters which day, except transfer day will be deserted. The Sella Ronda is used as the main route to access other villages so doesn't really matter who's doing a full loop or who's just going 1 valley over.
Saying that, the TO's seem to insist that one way is easier, and probably do that on the first "guided" day. So do a Sella Ronda loop the other way on that day. Both are as easy as each other imho, and you'll be round in 4 hours plus lunch stop, with loads of time to spare.

Did orange and green twice each last week whilst diverting round other more interesting bits of the area. That was Sunday, Monday , thursday & friday.
Queues were worst on the thursday when we did the orange from selva especially at corvara where I guess you can drive to the lift station? We then diverted off to the marmolada for a few hours which was horrendously busy compared to mondays diversion (theres a very slow 2 man chair on the arabba side)
It really doesnt take that long though and if it wasn't for the spectacular scenery doesnt have much else to go for it. Think of it as a ring road where you can turn off for the attractions.
pjd, we also did the anti clockwise on friday with a long break for lunch & gear shopping in canazei(an early glimpse of summer) and the queues were non existant.
