Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The progressive shrinking of Arctic sea ice is bringing colder, snowier winters to the UK and other areas of Europe, according to
this article
. Bad news for the polar bear
, but possibly good news for us snowsports enthusiasts?

Judging by the Jan & Feb weather we have had, they appear to be misinformed, like a september evening out there tonight.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

there was plenty of cold weather in January and early February. A warm few days in mid February hardly disproves a climate change theory (any more than a few cold snowy weeks proves it). My Italian teacher was telling me this afternoon about record-breaking snowfall in her home town in Italy. More snow in our neck of the northern French Alps than there's been for some years. Huge dumps in Austria too.

seems like a load of crap
in the UK aside from one cold spell (last year was colder!) it has been mild.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

its actually nothing new - has been a theory in geographical climate change theories and models for years. After studying just this at university I thought I would be more convinced of the argument for so called global warming (which is a misnomer anyway - climate change is the correct phrase) but I am not.

and there are plenty of other papers which show that the warming and breaking of the ice-caps can mean colder water in the Atlantic which cuts of the gulf stream (or diverts it south) and affects the Gulf Stream too... this means colder land e.g. in Europe and therefore snowfall rather than rain..... at the end of the day the earth is always trying to get into equilibrium. Some reports show that glaciers are advancing in some parts of the world.
Its all geeky and interesting stuff!

TBH rather have the polar bears than a bit more snow for the UK, no matter how much I love my skiing.
