Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Scottish weather!! What are your thoughts!?

We were hoping to have a weekend skiing in Scotland at some point, been watching the webcams with some interest, last couple of weeks there has been quite a few lifts open with what looks to be enough snow! Then as the days have gone on its rained got warmer and now it looks lovely and sunny, but no snow!! Sad
Does anyone think it will stay like this or are you confident they'll get a good amount of snow in the forthcoming weeks? Should we give up on the thoughts of going up for a weekend?

We were just having this discussion at work cos of the high temps and rain forecast. Guy who goes up there a couple of times a year reckons there'll be at least one more good snowfall yet. I was hoping to go up next weekend but it looks like that might be out the window. I've somehow managed to keep all but one of my March weekends free so I'm hopeful...

I did ask about it on the Scotland snow report thread but no-one has replied.

Snowy23, don't let the world outside your window or the BBC weather forecasts fool you because it's not lovely and sunny here at all, it's actually cool, drizzly and breezy. In fact, 'dreich' is the word, is the word, it's got groove, it's got meaning.

Alans deep bath, yep, there's April as you said but there's also both those 'M'-months. And as we're still only about 1/2 way through winter and including Verbier, I've only had about 15 days so far this season, I'm holding out for a lot more too.

Snowy23, It is impossible to predict if we will get more snow but it wouldn't be the first time the best skiing has been in March and April. Yes the webcams look depressing but it is possible at Cairngorm the Cas is still OK and the Ptarmigan bowl may be better than it looks but until they can get out and assess it we wont know. The same again with Glencoe who until now seemed to have the best snow.

snowball, Think positive, a month is an awful long time where the weather is concerned

Really warm and sunny over here today, t-shirt weather. I hear it's been raining over West (good timing as I'll be kayaking over there this weekend), is now supposed to get colder, with a little bit of snow high up.

OP, read the mountain weather forecast for real info.

MWIS says;

Friday.
A weakening cold front will take low cloud and patchy drizzle away southwards across N England and later N Wales. Colder further north, with Scottish Munros sub-freezing, and a few snow showers, mainly flurries. Severe upland gales gradually setting in Highland Scotland.

Forecast.
Over the weekend and early next week, pressure will be high across southern Britain. This will result in mild weather returning from off the Atlantic. Rainfall levels will be low for many mountain areas although gradually patches of drizzly rain will return to mainly western mountains. Very different across the west Highlands of Scotland, where rainfall will be considerable. Further bouts of upland gales Highland Scotland.

Outlook is considerably better than it was yesterday. There may still be legs in our season yet Confused

100% true.

You can't book a week ahead in Scotland never mind a month and expect even ski-able conditions.

I'm often up that way visiting family so in winter I pack my 'rock skis' and if there's snow I ski, if not I don't and wait till next time.
