Good afternoon sports fans. Does anyone know of a bar in Tignes le lac that is likely to be showing the six nations games this weekend and the FA cup final on Sunday? Much obliged.

Lots of bars, both English & French, will be showing the rugby. A couple of the most popular are the Alpaka & Loop bars.

Thought it was the League/Rumbelows/Milk cup final this weekend not the FA cup

Loop bar I believe is which is in le lac, also think scottys bar in le lavachet is too. Here at the moment so pretty sure the rugby fans in our chalet are accurate on the plan for where to go on the weekend!!

L'Embuscade at the top of Rue de la Poste will also be showing them - to a more international crowd

Nice, thanks folks. I've been to Tignes once previously so thought Loop or Alpaka would be showing it, but just wanted to confirm with some people who have there more recently. My apologies, it is indeed the league cup, not the FA cup. DOH! Hoping for a good week next week..... crazy warm weather forecast. Also, does anyone know what's up with the glacier this year.... from what I can see on the webcams they seem to have done some football pitch stylie grooming....

Tordi, They have basically plowed large furrows in the snow on the glacier to trap snow to increase the depth of snow to prolong the summer season. This works especially well when it is blowin a hooollleee as the glacier gets scoured very easily. They have been doing it in the winter off piste areas for about 3 or 4 years they have just extended the area this year. They are actually quite deep - if you are lucky and first up there in the powder it certainly concentrates the mind cos if you don't get a decent turn rhythm going you get propelled into the air park style.

Clever them piste bashing folks! Thanks for the info chocksaway. Arriving tomorrow lunchtime, can't wait. Although I'm a tiny bit disappointed that it won't be thundering down with a metre of snow tonight in preparation for my arrival, I'm looking forward to sitting outside in a t-shirt sipping my coffee in the sun at a reasonable pace.......compared to the usual chugging it down, to see it off before it goes cold. On the flip side, I might have to drink the beer quicker though, else it warm up.....
