Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Loose fitting, brightly coloured pants for tall, slim female?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys,

Firstly, great forum - it's certainly lots of food for thought and getting me excited about my next ski trip (which admittedly isn't until next year, but forward planning is always good!).

It's been a while since I bought new snow pants (last ones were a pair of dark grey men's Quiksilver ones bought in a sale in the middle of summer!) and I'm really struggling to find a pair I like.

I'm 5ft 9 and size 10 and I'd like a pair of relaxed fit (if not slightly baggy), brightly coloured pants. I don't want them "fitted" (as so many women's pants seem to boast) as I hate when they bunch up round your knees and then struggle to fit round ski boots (you know the look!). Finding a pair long enough also seems to be a bit of a problem.

Hoping there are a few female skiers/boarders out there who might have the odd suggestion for me. Do I buy a size or two up so they are wider round the legs (but don't fit round the waist) or do I go and look in the guys' section (which always seem to have a much better colour selection anyway)?

Any help much appreciated!

nylo, i am not a lady but I reckon some of the Scandi stuff is worth a look - Sweet Protection as Hellbent says, Norrona or the Heli range from Peak Performance

None of this is cheap but it is all good quality and Peak are certainly doing discounts on their online store so well worth a look

I got some bright yellow O'Neil pants this season - def a 'relaxed' style and they had several differnt colours. Slightly shorter than you at 5 foot 8 but I found them to be easily long enough and they have those adjustable waists with velcro so you can get a size to fit you just perfectly.

Have a look at the westbeach website - Canadian board gear, they have a 60% off sale at the moment

My snowboarder daughter has a pair which I guess are the same as kat.ryb's her quest was for some definitely relaxed fit bright ones and took her ages to find ones she liked. She is a tall skinny 12 year old and found the the XS size of those the best combination of waist size and leg length.

Another vote for Sweet Protection, I got some of their gore-tex trousers this season, performed very well for me so far, nice a light, breathable and waterproof.

Many thanks for all the suggestions - you've thrown up a few names I hadn't come across before. I like the look of the Sweet Protection stuff - for those who have used their stuff, is there any heat in their offerings?

kat.ryb and davkt - were those men's ones? The only O'Neill ones I've come across for women have been the Escape ones, which I haven't seen in yellow. Those might do the trick!

lib-banana - I love the look of the Westbeach stuff but I tried a pair on in EB and they were too short - boo!

geoffers - nice style, not sure about the colour?!

Shoogly - pic will follow, will have to unearth a few of the old skiing ones!

Sportpursuit are offering their usual shockingly good deals on a Swiss brand called Eleven at the moment.
Don't know how they go on the tall skinny sizing thing though.
Some Skandi brands - well, Haglofs anyway - are designed for thin racey Skandi types and do "long" and "short" versions.

nylo, Nope Emily's are certainly labled as Ladies XS, I will look if they say which style they are when I get home. They were bought in the end of season sales last year after she decided her ski trousers were way too uncool now she was a darksider so I guess they may have changed their offering for this year.

davkt, thanks for that - those pants look a great shape. A lot of them seem to be sold out though. Will keep an eye out for their new season stuff and see if they throw up anything similar.

Big Paua - I've signed up for Sportpursuit now (and I think I can hear my wallet sobbing quietly already!) - thanks for the heads up!

Timbobaggins - thanks for the link to Surfanic, will keep an eye on their stuff too - not sure how I'd managed to miss their entire site in all my searchings!

Thanks again for all the help, it's all been very useful so far

No def female ones - although I can't remember the style name. Careful with Surfanic, quite a lot of the stuff is 3k/3k or 5k/5k which is a little low I think (although good for the price). 10k/10k is standard spec.
