Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Slovenia

Poster: A snowHead
Just spent half term skiing various resorts in Slovenia; Kranski Gora, Krvavec, Vogel, Soriska, Stari Vrh.

Have to say it was a great week.

Downsides:
To get any variety and choices of slopes / km's to ski you need some transport as Krvavec is the largest resort with 35km of Piste.
There are one or two old single / double chair lifts and more button & T bars than you'd expect in a western european resort.
Outside of Ljubljana not a lot of apres Ski / nightlife - not an issue if your en famile though.
Resorts mainly aimed at beginners & intermediates, although there are some challenging blacks at KG & Kv

Upsides:
Quality/ condition of pistes / snow etc was first rate
Choice / variety of resorts
Cracking value - e.g. we never paid more than €20 per day for a lift pass, skis, boots & helmets hired for €80 per head
Excellent food at reasonable prices
Virtually queueless all week. Only the bottom access gondala at Vogel where we had a 10 minute wait at the start of the day. Some of the smaller resorts you felt you had to yourself.
Superb guides / instruction at a reasonable price
Great hospitality from friendly helpful locals.
very few snow boarders Very Happy

We had our first family holiday here last year and would echo your thoughts.

We stayed in Bovec, at the bottom of Mt. Kanin - 2,300 mtrs. On the pass we bought you could ski at Kanin, Sella Nevea and Tarvisio, both in Italy and one Austrian resort (name escapes me!).

Absolutely no apres, but ridiculously cheap (one meal for nine inc. wine was 109 euros!).

Wouldn't go back, but would recommend for a first time family holiday.
