Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Year in Austria 2012/13

Anyone out there any idea where I will find a couple of rooms in a 3/4 star hotel (Hlaf Board) in a decent resort. As far as I can tell all of Austria is booked out already, driving me mad. The TOs pricing is really nasty at the moment, we went with Crystal to Soll this year, the didn't book last minute, yet the price this year is £1000 more. I have tried most of the Tourist Offices and emailed a couple of hundred hotels so far with nothing except the odd isolated B & B having any rooms. I know NY is busy in Austria, but sold out Shocked

Ghost Dog, No, not sold out just not really on sale yet while this season still in full swing. I would select the hotels you ideally want and drop them an email directly or phone them.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

In my experience most places do not release their rooms/prices until nearer summer, unless where I've previously been to a certain gasthof/hotel and they seem easy enough to re-book. Where are you thinking of going?

that is certainly the case round these parts. rates are not finalised until post season but guests can re-book for the following year when the check-out (although the price may change a little).

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I have had some responses to the effect that they might have rooms available post September, but a number have already comme back and said "No Chance". I specifically queried the Viktoria in Mayrhofen (as it is a) nice and b) cheap-ish for New Year). They were quite specific, we are fully booked as we always are. Try booking for 2013/14.

I will keep watching Crystal's website as they normally drop prices a bit by the summer. If anyone from Crystal is lurking around here, I want to go back to the Maximillian in Soll for a similar price to last year. Wink The pound is stronger this year, should be possible.
