Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice on Ski Hire in Alpe D'Huez

Hello,

We are staying in the Skiworld Chalet Amelie which I understand is in the old part of the town near the tourist office and 100 metres from the Basket lift.

Can anyone recommend a good ski hire place and let me know how far away it is from our chalet (roughly)

Ring Skiworld they probably have a deal with a shop, i.e. you will get the kit cheaper. Have a look, if it is downmarket go to those given a shout on here.

Hi

Was in Chalet Amelie back in January, it is in a great location.

The two nearest hire shops are Ski Set and Ze Shop; they are opposite each other and 1 minute walk (even in boots). The intersport is a lot further away and bit of a faff to get to.

Most of our group used Ze Shop and booked in advance with discount. Not sure of the rates as I didn't hire myself, however they serviced my skis and did a first rate job, really friendly too.

Hi K- they booked direct in advance with Ze Shop; to be honest I think it was more of a happy coincidence that it was so near. Turned out that Ze shop is also where ski world would have taken them anyway.
