Poster: A snowHead

Lent my Mountain Equipment Changabang jacket to a boy who turned up to my University mtb Club ride with only a base layer on in sub-zero temperatures.
Next time he can f-ing freeze to death because he's put a substantial tear across the left shoulder...
Mountain Equipment don't seem to have their own repair service, but instead link to this company: http://www.tundra-repairs.co.uk/priceguide.php
Has anyone had experience with either the company above, or generally getting their gore-tex repaired?
The jacket is 4 years old and a rather unique shade of green. I'm not optimistic that I will be able to get this repaired to the standard that it won't look shit.
Cheers

Fergus, I'm know there are some really good companies that can repair tears in jackets, don't dispair.
My brother put a sizable rip in the lower arm in his shell jacket a few years ago. He sent it away and they repaired it by putting a big patch over the lower arm ... but they also put the same patch over the good side of the jacket so it matched! My brother was really pleased with it. I'll ask him who made the repair and get back to you.
Cheers

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I just use that Spinaker sail tape recommended by Megamum. It's great stuff, almost the same shade of red as my Changabang.

Just to add, Lancashire Sports Repairs (LSR) did a great job of repairing damage to my Osprey rucksac last year. They do jackets too, maybe worth contacting them to compare.

Megamum, I just cut a round patch and stuck it over the hole in my elbow. The bone still hurts though... bloody ditches and rocks

Thanks for the quick responses, people.
Will speak to lsr and tundra. Megamum, if this was a self-inflicted wound I would definitely try this, but since it's someone else's fault I'll go for a professional service and charge the guy.

Scarpa, Nah, Nah, Nah - it's elastoplast on your elbow and the spinaker tape on your jacket - no wonder your elbow still hurt!

Tenacity tape. Fixed my Berghaus shell with it after a coming together with a sharp edge. It's the poo-poo, and it's cheap!

If your close to Glasgow and looking to avoid postage try Image Scotland if your passing through Edinburgh (mussleburgh). They have in-house facilities for repairs and are affiliated with Tent Repair Service and Scottish Mountain Gear so know a bit about patching up kit.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
