Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Try this old thread:

I'd put the traverse of Mont Jovet on the list of must-do.

If you don't need an English speaking guide, I'd highly recommend Patrick Jeannot http://www.patrickjeannot.com/

He knows La Plagne like the back of his hand. Spent a few great days skiing with him and a group last year - even after five weeks of no snow.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

A snowhead offpisteskiing runs an off-piste guiding company, he is based in Bozel and knows La Plagne well. A few other snowheads have skiied with him in La Plagne in the past. Have a look at www.offpisteskiing.com

If he is busy another option is to look at the local ESF school, they run good value off-piste days throughout the season. In Champagny they host an off-piste day on a Wednesday, it is around 50 euros for a half day.

another recommendation for Evolution 2 in montchavin. Had some off piste lessons with "Aurelien" excellent english speaker, and some really enoyable afternoons. They also run morning guiding with olivier, but this is above my offpiste standard at present. Wearing an airbag made me feel like king of the mountain.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

If you like to be challenged then Chris Harrop is fun. He has lived near Ste Foy for many years and develops new chalets and now just guides for fun.

I spent a fantastic week skiing with Christophe Monet from Oxygene ski school, on one of their Steep and Deep courses. The terrain, conditions, and guiding were all excellent. I took a private guide for another day - which was also excellent.

La moyenne face nord of the Bellecote is quite superb, nearly 2000m vertical. Le couloir des cables has a traverse that you will not forget. Le Sablier, is an excellent couloir, of which there are loads.

There is a vast amount of wonderful off-piste, too much to mention here. La Face Nord of the Bellecote is the must do (for many people.) The book Les Cles De Paradiski describes lots of the off-piste available.

I hope this helps.
