At the min its the 3 of us, but the other lad im talking to is back from scotland on monday, although he seems to be still on abput france, i cant find the prices he keeps finding anywhere, total mystery lol

Anyone interested in joining a friendly group for a skiing/snowboarding holiday at Soll, Austria from 17th March?
At the moment there is three of us going. Two at Chalet Mounty and one at Hotel Postwirt. Others interested can book themselves or pair up with others interested here (just post here stating your looking for a room buddy and your preferences etc). Soll is a small town so as long as you book somewhere central you won't be far. Some really good deals in Soll too from the likes of CrystalSki and DirectSki. Main thing is having a group for socialising at Apres Ski and possibly night life. Plus the possibility to ski together and/or meet up for lunch on the mountain. It makes the holiday more enjoyable especially if your a solo traveller (for whatever reason) knowing a friendly bunch of people will be there with you so you can make the most of your holiday. But you'll still have your independance whenever or however you want to do your own thing. I'm really looking forward to it. Will be my second time skiing this season in Austria. Which incidentally they are saying has had the best January on record for snow in 60 years !!!!

So tempted - I'm just back from Soll and would love to go back again this year. I'm solo thirty something female - is it still the three of you in the group?

As far as I'm aware still only three at moment. Unless jonomcgee has more on board from a few others interested.
Myself in single occupancy room in Hotel Postwirt and 2 other sharing in Chalet Mounty.
Def welcome more to join us to meet up. If your on your own like me you can either book single room or post here to pair up with someone to share a twin room. Most welcome to join our group like I say. We're all solo travellers (for one reason or another) in this group or showing interest at moment so in the same boat. Don't let that put you off going skiing again this season. I haven't and my first time alone .

There maybe a forth lol, Noel is his name. Looking today at prices. The place where im staying is Chalet Mounty, there are roms spare looking at 600 half board with ski pass. If you would like i could get in touch with him so you could twin up, if you would like that of course, keeps costs down slightly

I would consider Soll if somebody can convince me it will be good snow. Soll is only a 700m resort and on March 17th last year had just 55cm of snow on the upper slopes . It was similar the year before that. I know it has been great snow recently but then there has been a massive cold system from Siberia sat over the Alpine area that might not stick around.
I wonder if anyone has much experience with late season skiing in Sol?

I have a friend who has been several times to Soll around the end of march to beginning of April and even though the resort is low the skiing is still good on top with snow blowers covering most of the slopes. Also Austria has had the most snow in over 60 years. The conditions are exellent and with the cold system over at the mo its gonna last longer this season than it has for along time. I have good friends in an area just south of Salzburg called Gosau and they are lower than Soll, (about 500 meters is the resort).
Im gonna put a pint on this if you come and say that it will be good conditions for snowboarding/skiing.

snowspeed. i'm not here to convince. i ain't selling anything. we aint selling anything. just solo travelers offering to group up.
but i was comcerned like yourself. if you want high altitude to ensure snow sure then pick somewhere like tignes.
i followed morzine weather youtube vids before and after my hol last year. we was lucky. little snow falll till just before we went then sunshine and t-shirt weather after with the snow quickly melting. that was start of march but the weather was barmy after then last year.
this year i went snow sure to St.anton second week of jan. highest snowfall resort at time in the world. lifts closed due to avalanche dangers. avalanches closed of roads either side of st.anton and was hit and miss if we'd get there first day. valluga lists never were open during our stay.
its always hit and miss but i count myself lucky with the snow i've had past 4 holidays.
like jonathon says the snow this year has so far been really good. really cold temps right now in soll despite low altitude. plus the most extensive snow making facilities in austria i believe. search old youtube vids for good seasons of snow in march. check out the snow forecast websites for weatherpredictions and current snow depth comparisons.
that's what i did after being cautious like yourself about snow reliability. but after already being skiing this year in austria and seeing the snow depths of upto 5 mins... i aint worried lol

Crystal ski is same company and prices. Shows full price upfront. Easier searching their site for true price. Hotel Austria best value choice for single rooms if want something cheap but local. Otherwise good prices if you can twin with someone. Goodluck. Soll looks to be having some brilliant skiing conditions from recent reports.

Hi Danny. Yes. I'm still going and booked. Intermediate Skier single room hotel postwirt. Believe 2 others, snowboarders, still going after booking (inc jonomcgee) shared room at chalet mounty. Yes welcome to join us esp for some Apres Ski so not bored alone after the days skiing. Pos some piste bagging with us too.
Still welcoming other solo travelers to join us that week to form a larger group for socialising, apres ski etc.
Soll recently had more snow and pistes now classed as 'powder' so still looks good so far

Not long to go...
4 solo travellers going to Soll, Austria. Week from 17th March. Others welcome to join us.
Will be meeting up to form a friendly group for Skiing, Boarding, Apres-Ski etc.
Sorting out own hotels etc...
or try pairing up here by posting if solo and want a shared room.
