Well I could have printed the list of names and cut them all out but that would have taken all blimmin evening.
Or... I could have built a nice little random number generator but how would U know I really had and wasn't just making a number up out of my head. And what if one of my friends won?

Anyway, just cos it's maths, doesn't mean it's complicated - it was very easy maths really and (to my mind) a nice simple way of producing a transparently random result

Michelle, what we did was: all the snowHeads server hamsters took one name each and played knock-out rounds of rock paper scissors until only one remained.

Can i just ask. On Snowheads, usually if the prize isnt claimed within 24 hours, the prize is moved onto the next person. Will that be happening with this competition?

Pamski, Here is another bit of info. The winner is a Huge contributor to Snowheads 1 TOTAL POSTS??? He probably wont even know he has won it!!! Maybe a backup plan is needed to draw another person if the prize goes unclaimed?

look back t page 1. is there a mention of a time limit on claiming prizes? No? then there's no time limit on when the prize can be claimed.

and as for the "one post only" - part of the idea of running competitions like this is to encourage people to join up and join in. I recall several years ago we were members of a local ski club where at the annual "knees up", the top prize was always a free holiday on the next season's trips. My mate's sister had just signed up to the club to join us on the trip we;d booked for, and she won. Some of the older members were disgusted that a "proper" member hadn't won, i.e. someone who'd been coming for years
that ski club no longer exists - we, like several other member, decided that it wasn't the kind of club we wanted to be in
