Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi,
I've got 4 sets of skis and only 2 sets of bindings, having been going through this forum Ive just discovered Quiver Killers which could well be the answer to my problems.
My problem is that I cant find anywhere that stocks them here in Sheffield but I have found them online to order.
Im just wondering if any ski shop that fits bindings should be able to fit them or is there anything special in the process that is going to stop them?
I am right in thinking that I can get these fitted to all my skis and then just swap the bindings around at will?
Thanks

medlington, pm spyderjon as he fits and sells them, you do need various tools to fit them i think

I mounted em at home so yes, all but the mankiest shop should be able to do it, although someone who knows em well will naturally do a better job so hit up spyderjon as suggested. And yes, you can share one binding between as many skis as you have (flat skis with the QKs in, brake widths notwithstanding). Not quite "quick-release" on and off, but super easy nonetheless

medlington, I'm the UK importer/distributor of the QK inserts. There are currently only two Quiver Killer retailers/installers in the country, namely myself and Edge & Wax in West Sussex. Hopefully there'll soon be a West Country & a Scottish outlet. As it's a limited & specialist market there'll only ever be small number of geographically spread independent outlets, which won't include Sheffield.
The inserts do require a certain level of expertise to install but any competent DIY'er can do it, especially if your skis have already been mounted. Myself and E&W use a Pro Installation Kit to install the inserts as it speeds up the process and is designed for use with binding jigs. There is a lower cost DIY Installation Kit which is slower to use (but by no means gives a lower quality job) which is what most self-installers use.
I'm only 45 mins from you so it'd be easy for you to drop your skis in to me and I could turn around four pairs in a few days. I've now personally installed over 6000 inserts which is waaaay more than anyone globally so I've plenty of experience. Alternatively you can buy the inserts/install kit/threadlock/mounting screws online from either me or E&W and have a local shop mount them for you.
Hope this helps.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the info, I didnt realise you were only in Nottingham spyderjon, . Im just trying to see if Im going to have time to get down there before I go away or not.
Would you be able to do them for me the same day or would I need to drop them off for a few days?
Roughly how much would it be per pair? I might just get 2 sets done as I've just seen the weight restrictions on my flight.
One pair has the bindings already mounted and I think the other pair has been drilled but probably not for the same bindings (still waiting for them through the post so not definate yet)
Also would I need any special tool to swap them over while Im away or is it just a standard screw driver?
cheers
