Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer from Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just booked a week in Alpe d'Huez Smile Package deal Sad and the flight out is ridiculously early and arrives in Grenoble at 9:30, but that does open up the possibility to ski for half day when we get there. Does anyone have a realistic idea of how long it will take to get to the resort? DIY with private transfer would be pretty quick but the package coaches always seem to involve a lot of faffing and take twice as long.

Would love to get an extra half day skiing so any advice is appreciated.

zebedee, Take a look at http://www.bensbus.co.uk/ see how their times work, price is pretty good.

If you don't mind shelling out try taxi-chalvin@wanadoo.fr. tel: 0033 476 80 38 38. They cost (170€ one way) but can take up to 7 people so no more per head then than going on Ben's bus. They are very efficient and you can be in ADH within 2 hours if there are no hold ups at the airport.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have a coach transfer included in the package, so if I assume a fair amount of tour operator faffing at the airport and waiting for the chap from Bassingstoke to retrieve his lost bag cos he didn't think the one that kept going around the carousel was his then hopefully we should get there around luchtime Happy

It's when the tour operator transfer coaches decide they need a 30 minute break halfway through a 2hr transfer that bugs me - would be very tempted to do a private transfer or hire a car if it came to it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

zebedee, As I only ski one week a year a nice easy start is usualy in order for the first day . We went to ADH in 2010 (staying at the same chalet this year) and we (on advice) headed over the scare chair to Auris for the first morning. It has some nice steady cruising runs to get the legs going and some small areas of off piste in and arround some trees that dont venture far from the piste.
Its quite pleasent round there but just enough for a couple of hours.
