Poster: A snowHead

Just booked my first ever late season holiday.
Couldnt get myself any mates and dates for jan - march
Im assured there will be snow so ill get my fix this year but the question is how much?
Anyone whos been....what are the conditions like? It sounds silly, but is the chance of some off piste action totally out the window?
just trying to gauge if i should be thinking about taking my prophet 100's or leave them and rent something thinner in resort....
I know its 11 weeks away...but you know the score..once the things booked you dont stop thinking about it!

Don't really have a clue about this year, but can tell you about last year.
Was in Pas De La Casa from 27th March to the beginning of April last year. Think it was the last but one week of the season before the place shut. Week started well with plenty of snow, and a bit of fresh snow on day 2 or 3. Then got warm (16 degrees +) and everything started to thaw.

As mentioned last April was really warm in Andorra. However still some decent skiing to be had just need to get up early, and accept that it gets a bit slushy by mid-afternoon. Spring snow is called poor man's powder for a reason, so fun can still be had.

+1 But I think slush is commonly known as poor mans powder
Well it is to me.
You'll have something to ski on that's pretty assured, it could be really good but it could be really poor-no help but it's really 50:50 at best.
Parts of the Alps have that much snow now that a long season for the high altitude resorts is pretty assured. Safer bets would be Tignes, Val Thorens, et el and deals can be had at that time of year anywhere.

If you found the snow thawed a little during your stay in Pas you could drive across to Arcalis which is higher

I have had excellent powder at the end of March start of April including some 1m overnight dumps. It can get very warm though as the snow comes from Atlantic low pressure systems. You should be fine.

Went in April 2010. Conditions were fine, typical spring conditions most of the week, with moderate snowfall midweek to freshen it up. Had got warm towards the end of the week, so it didn't last long, but generally good. We had a great week.
Obviously it can be very hit and miss anywhere in April.
