I couldn't find a google map of all the European ski resorts anywhere online, so I decided to roll my own. It's pretty handy, and also quite illuminating so I thought I'd share it with you guys here. It's centered on Mayrhofen because that's where I just booked a trip to (first week in Feb, can't wait!). It might be missing a few, but there are about 250 shown on it so it's pretty comprehensive. I also Made a slightly sparser one which just shows the top resorts as ordered by resort height and total number of runs.
Hope you find it useful!

Edit: Some people wanted even more data. So here you go: http://duncang.com/skidata/map-even-more.html (I hope you have a modern computer, there's over 1000 resorts on that one!)
Also: currently doesn't work in internet explorer. I'll take a look at fixing that when I get a chance, but until then might I recommend google's browser? : http://www.google.co.uk/chrome

Gladly! The second one was mostly done by hand so it should be more correct. For the first I'm relying on data from a webpage I found, which is probably less reliable.

Alta Badia is a few valleys away from the marker too
Kaltenbach-Hochfügen is missing (As you're going to Mayrhofen, I recommend that for a day out)
Every resort in Slovenia (Bovec, KG, ...)?
Nice map though. /me start making a list of convenient ones to go to...

Looks like it was missing from the original dataset, probably because Morzine's in there. Have added it now.

You know it makes sense.

Ah yes, "comprehensive" might have been a little bit of an overstatement. It has got all the major ones though, as far as I could tell. I was mostly looking at the map of the top resorts as those were the ones I was choosing between. That bergfex site is pretty neat, I hadn't come across it before. They definitely have more comprehensive data than the set I was working from.

How about a suggestion for V2 - add airports. Would be a very handy tool to find a resort near your cheap flight

And there are another 284 European resorts there outwith the Alps. I reckon duncanq might have to expand the map.

I don't mean to say that duncang's efforts aren't worthwhile and I've bookmarked the link because it's good stuff but I've been spoilt by google earth I suppose. I'd asked whether transferring the work to a google earth overlay was very difficult because to me, satellite imagery with spatial information registers its meaning in this wee brain more easily.

Great effort!
For completeness (in my local areas), in the SkiWelt: Söll, Scheffau, Going and Brixen are missing.
The Steinplatte (by Waidring) isn't there. Near Kitzbühel you might add Jochberg and Pass Thurn.
In the Hochkönig area, Maria Alm and Mühlbach are worth pins.
Further west Alpbach and Reith im Alpbachtal could be added.
And then in the Zillertal, Hochfügen and Zell am Ziller.
But that's probably enough to be going on with! You may have a job for life here
