Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski hire and Lessons in Peisey

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My wife insisted that I learned to Ski this year or she would not go, last time she struggled with the kids on the drag lifts whilst I was on my board. I have been boarding for 10 years (18 weeks) and have never crossed to the dark side but am told it is easy to pick it up if you are relatively experienced on the piste.

I am looking for private lessons for myself for the first two mornings and ski hire for the whole family in Peisey from the 11th March for a week. I have looked on line and I keep getting diverted to hire shops in vallandry, I believe this is a bit of a trek from Peisey?

There are 4 of us; Me, wife, 8 year old boy and a 5 year old girl.

Many thanks.

Am I right in thinking that Peisey is one of the lower villages from which you access the main slopes by using the pedestrian 'lobster pot' lift to Plan Peisey? If so, there is a little Intersport shop opposite the top of the lift, right under the Vanoise Express, which is very convenient. They let us leave our hire skis every night and our normal shoes during the day so we weren't lugging them about, and just took out ski boots back to the chalet.

We used the ESF by the Vanoise Express for lessons, but I think several other ski schools are active in the wider area, too.

mheadbee, You need to be certain quite which village you are in as it's a bit confusing initially - for an explanation then have a look at 'resort branding' in this thread http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53223 or http://www.peisey-vallandry.com/www-plan_vallee-1258-HIVER-FR-PEISEY_VALLANDRY.html if you're more visually focused

If you're staying in Peisey itself then Scarlet is spot on about the comment about the intersport, and this is less pfaff than dragging skis up and down the lobster pots. It's also as good as any if you are staying in Plan-Peisey too. I'm pretty sure this is the on Scarlet is referring too: - http://www.peisey-vallandry.com/file-introduction_afnor-261-UK-A-INTER3-HIVER-PEISEY_VALLANDRY.html#

ESF is pretty decent in Plan-Peisey; if you're looking for something different the Ski New Gen in Vallandry (http://www.skinewgen.com/vallandry/) are highly recommended (but are a very small school in terms of numbers of instructors)

Oh and just to give you a taste of the 'improvers area' - it hardly get's any better than this...

bertie bassett, That's the one, indeed.

mheadbee, I can also recommend the patisserie near the hire shop, especially if you like your cream cakes rainbow coloured Toofy Grin
