If you're picky, why not just cut Crystal out altogether and rent independently? Shop around and choose what you like best.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Crystal have a customer services forum type blog on their website which allows you to 'ask the rep' in advance of your stay. You can prob ask the rep to reserve exactly what you want, at least the question will be sent directly to the resort team instead of someone in the call centre trying to guess. They warn however not to expect a speedy answer over the transfer weekend times when they are a tad busy. Good luck.

Not really that picky, just like to make the most of what I can! Prefer to use someone like Neilson or Crystal for convenience, though. I travel waaaay too much with work, so when it comes to holidays (When I don't have my PA to book it all!) I like as much of a one stop shop as poss for a ski holiday. Once I know what the hire shop is, I've managed in the past to give 'em a call,op ask a few questions and get close enough to what I want. Speaking French seems to help!
Frogslegs, hadn't spotted that section on the website (I tend to avoid corporate "blogs"), will try it, though..

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Carlos the Slackal, cut out Crystal altogether.
I was talking to a hire shop guy and Crystal took a 60% cut from the rental price. His advice was if you walk in and said you were with Crystal, but came direct he would give a 20% discount off the advertised price, so you save a good bit, but more importantly you become one of his customers, rather than one of Crystal's punters, so you get better set ups and service if you need to swap out skis or whatever.
On a similar note on the same trip I booked a snowboard hire on the coach. After picking the board up i had to get a strap replaced and whilst waiting in the shop noticed the weeks hire for my board was €20 less than i had paid on the coach. When we checked it out later a mate had rented 'superior' boots when the shop only did the one cheaper rate, so we all overpaid, had to complain and got refunds - eventually.

Aah, just picking up on a few threads guys.
@Carlos, if you want to ask the questions directly to our people in resort, try here:
http://twitter.com/#!/Chevalier_ski
or on our Q&A forum here:
http://help.crystalski.co.uk/crystalski
Everybody likes to "play the system" a bit but to our minds convenience is what it's all about.
The anecdotal story above about "direct customers" getting better service than our own is total hogwash and can only be an exception rather than the rule - we have excellent relationships with all of our suppliers in resort.
Anyway, bottom line is - hope you have a great time!

Carlos the Slackal, we asked Crystal in advance for our trip to AdH before Xmas and they were very forthcoming. Even told us which skis we'd be renting, costs to upgrade and which skis were in each band. Think it was done via their website.

Yep, certainly has, and more during the early morning! Am now in that "Look at the webcams every day" mode...!
Incidentally, the Cucumelle webcam is superb;

Really good to get an idea of what the weather's like, especially with the timelapse.
