Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cheapest way to get to Zermatt?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi everyone,

I am planning on visiting Zermatt, Switzerland during February. I am on a very tight budget and would like to get there (and back!) for around £100-£150 (yes, its asking a lot!) . I am researching as much as possible but I thought that someone must have tried it or knows the best way to get there! Easyjet start around £140 (Monday-Friday) and a train return from Geneva to Zermatt is about £60, this may be the cheapest option but I thought I'd ask you guys for any ideas (maybe the train?!)! I can leave from Friday the 11th February and cant come back later than Sunday 19th (I can leave later and return earlier though).

I really appreciate any ideas or tips you guys may have for me,

Chris

I think you'd be doing well to get much cheaper than that. Zermatt is not somewhere I'd like to do on too much of a budget...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

chrismathias, you are going to really struggle with flight prices for those dates - it's UK half term week. Good luck though.

chrismathias, £60 (CHF 95) for Geneva to Zermatt return is if you have a swiss half fare card. You may well have this but thought would just point out. Standard fare is double obviously.

The Swiss Transfer Ticket is the most economical with no reductions at £95ish.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Look at Zurich flights too, could be be cheaper than Geneva. Or even Basel.

If your going from stanstead, try snowjet. They fly to sion, a little airport on the valley floor near (ish) to Zermatt.

This.

Flights to Malpensa are often very cheap, hire a car (assuming you can fill it with people and split the cost - car hire for a solo traveller is a price hike of course) and drive over the Simplon Pass.
