Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val Cenis Lanslevillard tips

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Looking to drive out to Val Cenis domaine early Feb; any tips or opinions welcomed, particularly on where to stay. Looking for self catered, close to lift or ski back, parking close to apartment or covered essential, don`t have to be near shops/bars as like a walk, decent size bed preferred to shoebox. Looked so far at new MGM Flambeau, Les Balcons le Haut, Les Essarts, Les Valmonts, Les Alpages. Many thanks

cstreat, For location would recommend chalet melezes 50m to main gondola, and cracking food available in restaraunt.

cstreat, I've only stayed at http://www.destination-haute-maurienne.com/en/apartments-valcenis/residence-bonheur-des-pistes.html Bonheur des Pistes apartments. They were very nice, spacious, but also reasonably priced so you can under-occupy with ease. Ski-in, shuffle out, by gondola. Not sure of parking situation as I arrived by public transport.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Would definitely recommend the new MGM Chalets de Flambeau for extra luxury (see more info on http://www.peakretreats.co.uk/ski/val-cenis/mgm-apartments/les-chalets-de-flambeau.htm) although Les Balcons Village is the other one I recommend especially is proximity to shops and restaurants is your main priority.

stayed in these Easter 2010. They were fab. really spacious and well appointed with covered parking beneath the building. Would happily go back.

We've driven to Val Cenis for the last 3 half term hols. Fantastic varied skiing and if you don't mind drag lifts, Termignon has some fantastic skiing, even at half term we've had the slopes to ourselves. Have always stayed in Les Alpages, good quality apartments and great location, next to the Pre Novel lift, a short shuffle out and a ski back to the boot room (even last year when snow was poor!) Would give the new Flambeau residence a look, again next to the pre novel. Lift queues are pretty non existent, although the gondola vieux moulin can get very busy at the start of the day (probably not a prob outside of school hols). Good selection of moutain restuarants, egg & chips at the Bar le refuge is a must as is a stop at the Ranova. Hope that helps, if you have any more specific questions let me know, have a great holiday!

srobbo,

Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation here! I had been looking at all the alternatives in Val Cenis but had not come across the Chalet Melezes until your post. What sold it to me was a 6 bedded apartment with a massive 50sqm of space and the restuarant (and the fact we are unlikely to have to queue to access our room when we arrive) - and to Mrs SM - the proximity of the lift - you didn't exaggerate! The owner sent a picture from our apartment!
