Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I've been the last week in January for as long as I can remember and the resorts I've been to in Austria and Italy are neither rammed nor deadly quiet I don't expect there's much difference-some Italian resorts in particular start to get large groups of school trips not that you'd notice the extra bodies on the slopes though.

I've been 3 or 4 times around the 22nd/23rd Jan to Italy and it's always been pretty quiet. Not deserted, but you almost never have to queue. Can't speak for the following week.

dublin1, 22nd is quieter, although not a huge difference. Both are up there in the top 5 quietest weeks and all the poor boogers with kids/committmants/bosses etc etc can't go wink

Certain Austrian resorts can get busy at anytime if the snow & weather is good as all the Bavarian pipe smokers steam down from Munich in their beemers.

We're based in France rather than Italy or Austria but we tend to find that the 22nd week is quieter than the 29th week if that is any help?

Happy planning!

red 27, only at the weekends, Sunday being the worst for day trippers.

dublin1, Apart from the Schladming and Kitzbühel areas (World Cup races that week), the 22nd is usually fairly quiet in Austria. The 29th too but it is starting to build up to the February Half Term time in some European countries so it can be slightly busier.

dublin1, Yep the 22nd -as Samerberg Sue says, was in Schladming for nightrace week a couple of years ago and found it pretty busy - went last year 29th and all 4 hills were very quiet. Go for it !!!

We ran a chalet in Austria a few years ago and didn't even get any guests on the week of 22nd. I do remember the following week being pretty quiet too.
