It was exactly two years ago, when €1 got you 1.48 Francs. Now it only gets you 1.22 Francs, which is why I won't be going to Switzerland this year.
The same rules apply to keeping costs down (use public transport, sleep outside of the resort center, keep out of bars and restaurants). Even then a meal and drink out was stupidly expensive, but the exchange rate obviously makes things even worse now.
And who pays for water in Switzerland? Where do you think that expensive bottle water comes from?

Back in 2008 it was 2.5chf to £1 and I swear Switzerland was almost the same price as UK.
These days there is no doubt that CH is expensive for Brits.
Though tourist hot spots like Verbier & Zermatt are probably the most expensive places in the country.
Get off the beaten track and there are much cheaper spots.
Grimentz / Zinal / Andermatt / Bruson / Les Marecottes / Arosa / Evolene all have great skiing and much cheaper prices.
Last winter a lift pass in Grimentz was £26 (vs £46 in Verbier).
Take a packed lunch and stay off the beers.
Helps you ski better anyhow.

It more likely means means the pound buys less. I expect prices have gone up in the UK over the last 4 years aswell.

When we stayed at the Victoria Lauberhorn in Wengen, we were charged 4chF for a jug of tap water to drink with dinner.

Hells Bells, Ouch, I've stayed in several Wengen hotels and never been charged for tap water (though not stayed in the Victoria Lauberhorn), indeed some hotels even place jugs of water on the dinning table for everyone, but there are always some places (just as in the UK) where the management is out to get every penny they can 
I have also been in a hotel for dinner in Wengen where we were the last at the ala carte tables and the hotel owner came to talk to us, we were a bunch of mid twenties to early thirty year olds not staying in that hotel and after a very nice dinner the owner of the hotel came over and sat and chatted to us about many things whilst we had several after dinner drinks each, when the bill was presented at the end of the night there was no charge for those after dinner drinks (probably well over £100 worth of spirits in total including some particularly good old Malt Whisky) so there are some very generous hoteliers in Switzerland just as there are some miser.
I think it's going to be difficult for the Swiss tourist industry, things were bad for them when the Franc dropped bellow 2 to the pound at current levels they must be very bad indeed, there's nothing the hoteliers can do to significantly reduce costs, they still have to pay staff, electricity, heating, food and so on it's really going to have to either be down to the Swiss Government to deliberately devalue the Franc in some way or they will have to tough it out and hope that exchange rates improve for their visitors

We visit the hotels in Mürren for dinner and have never ever been charged for tap water at the table, they even joke about it and call it Chateau Mürren as it tastes so nice !!

It's totally unacceptable to charge a hotel customer for a glass of tap water. Last time they tried to pull that little gimmick on me in London, I told them that (a) I wasn't paying the hotel bill and (b) I was going to call the media. Oddly enough, those extra 2 pounds vanished from my tab no more than five minutes later... I travel quite frequently and I've seen such practices in many different countries. When it happens the best thing to do is to yell, holler, or scream!
