Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Emergency ski service

Just got the skis down from the loft. Realised we didn;t get them serviced after our last trip - after 2 weeks round scotland in the caravan, we kind of had other things on our minds and they just got put away and forgotten about.

Anyway they're down now and I've had a quick look. Touch of rust on the edges, and a slight whitening of the wax.

Anything I can do, given that I have very little in the way of ski servicing equipment? We fly out on Saturday, getting into resort about 7 to 8pm - and as it's austria, everything will be shut. Might be able to get them serviced after the first day's skiing I suppose...

nbt, Looking at your location - is that manchester? Is there nowhere that could service them for you in the snow dome there? If not could you get some Zardoz to put them them for the first day?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ski them day one, put them in overnight before day two. It won't make toffee all difference, and the rust on the edges will probably just come off on the first run - the damage is done if the rust has set in over the summer.

If you've got a gummy stone that will get rid of the rust, if not as Monium, suggests skiing will remove it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Just don't worry about it??

I've been in some resorts where the shop will do instant servicing. Takes about 15 minutes. Have had this done in Avoriaz, Hochgurgl and somewhere else that I can't remember (sorry). Its happened when the wax has dried out over the summer and the skis won't slide at all.
