Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

3m Tape stuck onto ski helmet

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just prepping my ski adventures...6wks in advance and want to attach my new handsfree camcorder to the helmet using the adhesive pad provided with it (3M pad that sticks to the surface and the camera attachment clips to the other side). Seems slicker than the goggle strap provided. Only question is would the 3m pad wreck the helmet material/design if I tried to remove it at a later date or is there something that would safely remove the pad without leaving marks, or should I just stick to the goggle strap??

thanks

a warm hairdrier will remove the 3m adhesive pads and in most cases will do this without leaving a mark but some of that will depend on the design and finish of the surface in question. I would say that any minor embelishment left will soon be superceeded by other knocks and scratches.

however the, assumption here, gopro helmet strap is pretty good, if you are worried about it coming off then use the tether strap that should have come with it. alternatively a cale tie or a boot lace works well.

my suggestion is that whatever you go with a security tether is a good cover all.

thanks ansta1, good point - never thought about it coming off when using the 3m pad. The goggle strap is a really good one (not Go Pro - got a Muvi HD Pro). May stick with the goggle strap and use the 3m pads for something more stable - using one on an egg timer to film long xposure and spef up via computer - nice FX

thanks for info. Will have hairdryer at hand incase I go for that!

Jon Ford, not a problem, if you want some other mounting options, try the side of the boot (outside side of course), doesnt work in deep powder but otherwise gives a really intreesting angle, particularly when cut into other pieces.
