Poster: A snowHead

There was a very serious avalanche over the road (RD1091) just over an hour ago (they don't know if any victims yet) and they have closed the Col. Best to drive via Frejus Tunnel anyhow when driving from the UK to Serre-Chevalier or Montgenevre or even Puy Saint Vincent.

There was an avalanche in a very similar place a couple of seasons ago. No-one hurt, although they did have to walk the school children across the debris to get them home for the night. It was the same time of day too.

I've linked to some pictures of the road conditions on the Serre Chevalier thread. Start at La Grave and finish at Monetier, pic no 6 or 7 is in the region of the avalanche I think.
