SLB79, Coupe du Monde above Avoriaz is usually a very nice pisted black. Do not drop into the Combe du Machon unless you want a lot of bumps.
Some nice testing Reds over Chatel Linga direction.
Have fun, and welcome to 's.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

DallyPaul, made the CduM mistake last year, I bounced down that on my board - knees shot to pieces!

The red runs the avoriaz side of the swiss wall (away from it)! Chaux Fleurie lift from lindaret and over the top towards chatel also a good bet.
Have fun and keep the positive!

Hi there
As DallyPaul says, there are a bunch of lovely reds on the way out to Chatel - the best is Linga, the run down to Chatel, which makes a good lunch stop if you've headed out from Avoriaz.
Blacks - Coupe du Monde is lovely if a bit skinny at the top and halfway down (I'm not so keen on skinny, steep and wide is ok!) but otherwise beautiful. There are some easy blacks in the bowl at the back of Les Gets but I don't know if this will be too far for you from Avoriaz.
I'm on this website as I'm a researcher looking for skiers to interview who will be in Avoriaz 21st-24th January to help us develop apps for skiers/snowboarders. Ar you out there then and interested? It's a great project, basically trying to understand why people ski, how they choose where to go, what information they need, etc. You need to be out there with 2+ friends or family and be a smartphone user, and you get £100 cash for your time (interview in the UK before you go and briefly out there on the slopes. It'd be great if you fit the bill and are interested! I'll come and ski the Coupe du Monde with you!

My favourite run is Arbis in the Chamoissiere area. You go up the gunbarrel straight Creux lift and the red snakes it's way back down. If it's not too bumpy/icy the Creux black you just gone up on top of is steep but not too hard.

+1 for Coupe de Monde as a nice beginners black!

You should go up to the top of the Swiss Wall and have a look at what you'll be doing in 2013 . There's a bit of a bar at the top for a beer or vin chaud and then a nice red and a blue down to Les Linderets (I think).
