Cant say about these two, but all the jackets that I have bought from NF have been a disappointment, mainly in terms of function. There is a reason that they are always discounted!!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I have a plasma jacket that I got in 2006. Still going strong. Warm as you like and still waterproof. Great hood design. Bit short in the sleeves but I am pretty tall.

I've just got a new Missing link jacket. It reminds me of the NF jackets of old. High quaility, Simple design and top end function with it.

Don't think any retailers are importing it yet but it is possible to get it direct. I'll happily show anyone my electron jacket if they're in the area (West Yorkshire)

This thread prompted me to ditch the Dare2be and buy something a little better, which was North Face in the end. Never looked back, difference was incredible, has done two seasons and is in pretty good shape for another.
I was a bit concerned that the jacket didn't have ventilation zips until I realised that because of the material, you don't need them.
I'd buy another, but funny thing is if it wasn't for that thread I'd have bought another dare2be, which at the time I thought was the dogs whatsits.

Breathable material isn't a substitue for vents!
The North Face stuff used to be really good quality but it has definitely slipped over the last few years, definitely wouldn't bother now, lots better kit out there for the price; they only get away with it because they're well known.

galpinos, Nuptse jacket; zip always gets stuck on lining, either when it`s -25 and you are freezing, or when you`ve just come in from -25 to +20 and you are cooking. Summit series down ski jacket, new last season, looked the biz, but no loft and very cold; went back to goretex shell. Spent £££ on a jacket that did not work, even though it had 50% off.
