Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Morzine recommendations pls..

We're off to Morzine for christmas week and it's the first time we've been there.

Does anybody have any recommendations for...
1. Ski instruction. We anren't looking for a week of lessons. Just a couple of private ones (need to improve on the bumps).

2. Good mountain food/coffee without breaking the bank. Altough I've been known to spend a small fortune if the coffee is really good.

3. Not to be missed pistes. It's been a while since I've been somewhere completely new to me so it feels a bit strange not knowing my way around.

adithorp, ski schools and names of people who I know really enjoy bumps. To be honest, these three don't have a "bad" instructor between them and anyone they have will help your bumps skiing. At this point it might be a case of getting anyone you can get...

Alpine Learning Curves - www.alpinelearningcurves.co.uk - Joe (based in Les Gets, but will teach in Morzine)
The Snow Institute - www.thesnowinstitute.com - Mo
BASS Morzine - www.britishskischool.com/morzine - Jaz, Andy, David or one of the two James's

The quality of food on the mountain around Morzine / Les Gets is really very high. Personally, I'd eat almost anywhere. You generally get what you pay for.

If you find a really good coffee then do please let me know. After the EU sorts out its financial difficulties then it really ought to pay some attention to the quality of coffee in France.

My favourite runs are Melezes (under the Perrieres chair) and the Chamossiere black. Tulipe in the main Les Gets bowl is also good for a hoooooooooooon.

Mont Chery, in Les Gets, is well worth the trip and is where the locals go to get away from the crowds. Some lovely runs off the back and side, in addition to the obvious runs down the front.

If you get over to Avoriaz then the area around the Coupe de Monde run in Avoriaz has much more skiing than is immediately apparent. If you like bumps then you'll find plenty. It's also worth making the effort to get over to the Plaine Dranse / Pre La Joux / Linga sector of Chatel.

Ain't that the truth!

It's not that I like bumps (I like fast and icy), but more I'm crap at them that means I need the help.
