Excelent, will be watching this thread with interest. Going back to ADH on the 4th Feb 2012 and staying in the chalet Namika near the altiport, it will be my second stay there. Ive been watching the web cams with some amazment with the lack of snow. Im looking forward to checking them over the next few days though.

So
Its been dumping and I if you ask me way more than initially forecasted. More on the way tomorrow too, at least 15cm
About 3 inches at town level and double that on the lower slopes when I walked up yesterday
Forecast for another 15cm tomorrow
then clear skies on thursday when the lifts open
It should be epic

Yes I think your right, shortly after I posted (lunch break at work) I had a look at the piste map and it suggests thsat it is indeed in the line of site beyond Pic Blanc

jonty, totally, the whole area has been transformed in about 3 days of snow.
Renry, sadly not. my tracks got covered by snow. seen a few people skinning up today and yesterday but i didnt bother as some lifts were running.
no more hiking, hopefully...

Any news over the weekend? We are arriving on Friday and I'm really hoping theres a bit more snow and a bit more than 11 slopes open! Also, we're staying out in the altiport area - does any one know if the slopes that go past that are open yet? Going to be a mission into town for the main lifts if not.

kat.ryb, welsome to snowheads. If you look at the webcam here from the Bergers area http://www.alpedhuez.com/hiver/fr/985/webcams-360-.html you can see the chalets at the altiport and it looks like it is pisted from there. That is ther Romains piste I think that runs between the chalets and down to Bergers

kat.ryb, that piste returns you to the altiport chalets from the top of marmottes 1. We tend to have a beer there at the end of the day. It was 12 euros for a litre glass, a couple of those then ski back down right to our chalet door

I was reading in another thread where someone was asking about walkie talkies. A reply was to get a local £10 pay as you go sim and put it in your phone.
I was wondering if that would be a good idea for AHD. Is there a shop in the Bergers are that sell them.

Not sure where the freeze level is but the word from a friend in Oz (1350m) at 3.00 this afternoon was rain rain rain. Seems to be playing out as forecast, hope the rain doesn't trash what must be quite a thin base at lower levels before the freeze level drops and the dump starts!
