Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Although the recently released report shows a year on year increase in turnover, it fails to disguise the effect of rapidly rising costs - in terms of new investment in lifts and snowmaking, employee costs accelerating beyond the inflation rate, as well as the rise in price of raw materials such as steel and oil.

Combined with the uncertainties brought about by the vagaries of the weather - particularly at the start and close of the season - as well as a rise in competition from an increasing number of alternative destinations, the reasons behind the firmly announced intention of the likes of the largest French operator, the CDA, to continue to diversy away from its dependence on its lift sector business, become clearer...
