Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Morzine job

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi. My daughter (22) is moving out to Morzine at the beginning of December with her boyfriend who has a job and she needs a job. She is interesting in bar or chalet work or retail but has lots of ski experience (ski patrol, BASI instructor, rep). They've been working in New Zealand and just back from a season there (so missed application cycle).
She has experience of bar work, cleaning and retail and will consider just about anything.

Thanks

pandora205, if she speaks French she should look at www.pole-emploi.fr French jobcentre site. Don't know about Morzine specifically, but there are five pages of resort jobs on there for this area at the moment, doubt if it's different elsewhere.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks Lizzzard. She has GCSE French which she describes is conversational level so not sure if that counts but I'll pass on the link and she can have a look.

pandora205, doesn't have to be fluent - if she can more or less communicate confidently it's worth a try. Lots of places look for English speakers and will put up with a bit of pidgin French. Best to get some CVs done in French before she goes, but have them checked by someone who can write properly - the French are quite big on written applications and will bin a badly written CV.

Also worth her while posting the question on www.natives.co.uk - lot of Morzine regulars/year rounders on there.

I know she applied for some via natives.co.uk but they mainly seem to want chefs just now. She was invited for an interview with Crystal a few weeks ago when she was in NZ but they wouldn't wait for her to return.

Will pass the info on to her about the French jobcentre site though - that looks useful if she can find her way around it. I've been trying using babelfish and not getting very far!

pandora205, I am sure I saw a request for staff on F/b yesterday. Chilly Powder in Prodains near Morzine. Worth some research.

http://www.chillypowder.com/work-with-us.htm they have a section on work with them on the site.

Thanks DallyPaul. I couldn't find the facebook page but their site looks useful.

Will pass all this on to my daughter who can follow up herself.

pandora205, I was suggesting she post a question on the forum rather than just look at the job ads. There are a fair number of people on there with local contacts.

Do you mums EVER stop?

but in the spirit of niceness - there are/were quite a few for Morzine on the jobs solutions part of the Chalets Direct website. Get her to sign up for Yodel Morzine adn Morz Scene and a few other facebook groups and get a twitter account. Also worth emailing CV or calling the guys at Natives.

She is just back from a seaon in New Zealand where she had no internet sccess, hence me being helpful. Thanks for the ideas though. She's looked on Natives and Chalets Direct but not the others, so those are useful.
