Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Have any fellow SH's used them, and are they trustworthy? How does it work re import duty and delivery, and are the goods 100% genuine........I'm looking at a pair of Arcteryx ski pants.

Can anyone offer an advice, having used them?

Cheers

Heres a tip, use a WHOIS service to checkout websites, for example a whois on Mountainblack.com shows the registrant as
Registrant:
LTD
372 Old Street
LODON ec1v 9au
GB
and owns over 1000 other domain names...

Smells a bit like scampi already, no?

compared against, for example

Whenever I part with money at any website, the first thing I do is follow a simple checklist to see how well they do.

1) Does the site have a current SSL cert ?
2) Use http://www.whoisxy.com/ to check the whois information. Are the address details for the domain listed ?
3) In the domain contact details, is there a valid email address.
4) Does the site display the owners contact details on the about page ? If so, do these details match the details listed in whois for the domain ?
5) Is there a valid phone number visible, and does it work ?

If I get the satisfied result I go further on purchasing a low cost good and if it is delivered promptly..I purchase my desired goods...I would suggest you the same.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Markymark29, I ordered from them a few years ago. Not everything turned up, although their site said all the items were in stock. And delivery took much longer than expected. No import duties though (stuff came from Europe). After the second time they were removed from my list of "approved vendors"

I would avoid them, and see if you can find another site for the Arcteryx trousers. They never seemed that cheap anyway.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does one establish : 1) Does the site have a current SSL cert ?

Interesting to note that putting mountainblack into Google turns up nothing but similar queries and reviews, some going back to 2009
