Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi there - I have poor circulation in my hands and am looking to buy the ultimate glove to keep my hands warm. I have read a good review about the Pinnacle glove by Mountain equipment and wondered if anybody out there has any experience with this glove ?
I have also read good reviews about hestra gloves (Alpine Pro) - I would appreciate any feedback. - Roll on december (Nendaz booked for the weekend).

Mitts are good like the pinnacle. I am just like you with poor circulation. If you've got the money then spend as much as possible as you'll get quality.
Me, i use a Millet outer which has no warmth to it, but its wind and water resistant. I went a size large so I can use various options underneath. I just got tiny pair of silk gloves to use as a liner to a underglove when it gets really cold this winter. I'd had a merino pair, but they didn't hold up so well being pure merino. Ortovox do a thick pure wool glove that I've seen mountaineers use in Scotland.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hestra, the best.
I have very poor circulation and have a good pair of scott gloves (goretex) - expensive at £85.00 but good. You can actually get heated gloves now too at around £150.00 I believe.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Plus 1 for Hestra. For my first few trips I used basic Decathlon branded gloves which were fine but did get a bit soggy sometimes. Then Father Christmas left a pair of Hestras under the tree and I haven't looked back since.

Buy mitts for a start; they're warmer. I'm sure there are lots of good brands. I have some of the North Face (a bad brand) 800 mitts, which are a mix of 800 down plus synthetic filling. They're the best powder mitts I've used in everything from rain through minus 30-odd.
If it's really cold then with other mitts I'd also use some thin (icebreaker or similar) liners, but these don't need 'em.

Black Diamond Mercury Mitts or Black Diamond Lobster Mitt or Black Diamond Absolute Mitt - Can you spot the pattern
Also consider having a pair of liner gloves inside and using a chemical handwarmer between liner and gloves for additional warmth.
