Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

SeaFrance suspends crossings

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
SeaFrance have suspended all crossings for the next 48 hours pending a decision on a takeover bid.

Anyone booked will be transferred to a DFDS/Norfolkline Dover-Dunkerque service.

Hells Bells, I didn't know about Sea France's financial problems. I used them for a return crossing with car this summer as they seemed to offer the cheapest deal. In retrospect, maybe they were offering fares a little too cheaply.

We went on sea france at the end of the summer hols and the boat was heaving - I've never seen so many cars drive off a ferry. My 9 yr old son loved it as our car ended up on a ramp that had to be lowered for us to drive off at the end. Very Happy Haven't come across that before but it was our first time on a ferry for years.

Hope the service will be resumed.

Just booked our Xmas crossing with Eurotunnel as we were worried about SeaFrance...they've been rocky for a while now. Pity as they offer a pretty good service and we've used them lots recently. DFDS had a bid in for the company so maybe they'll be able to revive them....otherwise prices will be sure to go up without any real competiton on the route.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

homphomp, when we don't have enough Tesco viouchers, we used to always book SF and have lunch on board. Better by far than DFDS/Norfolkline, so hope thingd don't go downhill.

Hells Bells, ....drat drat and double drat ... have used them for years .. excellent service (although officious on the French side) ... that means (elementary economics) less capacity, more relative demand, HIGHER PRICES ... Quick ... buy SF shares ... get them sailing again ....

valais2, which is why I stopped procrastinating, and booked Eurotunnel for our Christmas trip today. Who knows what will happen in the next few days.

Must admit I usually end up on P+O, well maybe 75% of the time. SF has always been pretty busy on the ones I've been on. Prices tbh were not too dissimilar when I've booked, and way way cheaper than eurotunnel for those of us without Tesco vouchers.

DFDS on the Amsterdam-Newcastle route also has the deck that lowers. And that route is freaking expensive (and then some) now!

We had so much hassle with surface crossings due to bad weather, we tried the tunnel 10 years ago, only marginally more expensive then, but a lot cheaper now with Tesco vouchers and soooooo convenient. Wouldn't go up top again if it were half the price.

We have always used the tunnel when time is top priority, but SeaFrance when cost is more important - usually less than half the price of the tunnel. They have always been the best of the ferry companies - hope they survive in some form.

oh?
last 2 times I checked, for car+1 it was more like €90 vs €200 (no Tesco vouchers here). €90 is abotu the most I've paid. €60ish is typical. Returm. P+O or SF.

usually less than half the price of the tunnel

that's more like it in my experience.

Last summer when I crossed I found Eurotunnel to actually be cheaper than a ferry (without Tesco vouchers).

Does anybody know what the situation is now ? The website is just a plain page with a contact number. I was wondering if they are going to operate again because I have a crossing to book sometime before Christmas.
