Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have a few of them but only ever use them when its warmer and I'm skiing in a hoody. When its colder I find it better to have a jacket with decent neck protection.

However I have found one ace item for cold days - what my other half calls my 'terrorist hood' which is a fleece hood a little like a looser balaclava. Goes well with goggles under a hat (or helmet) on a very cold day. It cost a fiver from one of those little carts that line the centre of most English shopping malls, sure they have the same ones everywhere so shouldn't be difficult to find. Definately one of my best purchases on a cost/usefullness ratio in terms of ski gear.

Buff (or copies) have been the biggest revelation to me 2 seasons ago.
Bought a cheap one on a whim, initially to block drafts down the jacket collar.
That year it ended up being fairly cold in Kitzbuhel, so wore mine over my chin (not mouth) and slightly over my head, with the the helmet on top..It kept me so surprisingly warm, there's no way I'm skiing without one this days..
And it wasn't even a fleece one..

I've got a merino wool buff, which has the nice feature that if it gets damp, it doesn't feel quite as horrible against my face as fleecy fabrics do. Means it can be used as a face mask, in a pinch.
