Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dry slopes (snowflex)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
It has been a long time since I have been on a dry ski slope. It was around 12 years ago and the run was around 100m if even.

What I remember from it.

It was a harsh brush-like surface, behaved a bit like snow but not really and most importantly, hurt like hell when you fell on it. Unfortunatley I don't have the luxury this autumn of visiting a snowdome as the nearest is around 240 miles (castleford) away. However hope comes in the new year with Xscape Glasgow Smile . Would it be worth my while having a go again on the dry slopes. I am paticularly interested in this snowflex stuff. I live in central Scotland at the mo , the nearest snowflex run being Aberdeen at over 100 miles away. SO woudl it be worth my while opting for the snowflex variety or the old denfix (I think) type of surface. COuld do with a search feature on the forums if any admin is reading this. Thanks.

Edmundh009, Any practice is better than none. I ski on Snowflex from Sept to April, once or twice a week and can recommed it for improving your technique. You may find that is does not have the edge grip that dendix does, but this then forces you to ski with more edge/ more control, and consequently when you then ski on snow it appears easier.

It is usually softer to land on than dendix. Very Happy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Edmundh009, there is a search function if you want - under 'User Facilities' in the top left hand corner of the screen. A mere 153797 postings to search until I post this one... Very Happy
